Spectroscopy (greek „Ghost seeing“) is the interaction of light and matter. The literal translation is quite appropiate, because with the use of these techniques, not the real molecules/atoms can be seen, but only their images and „shadows“ they produce. The result is a chart, where energy, time, frequency,…. are related, this we call a spectrum. weiterlesen...
Junior Science Club 2018
yeeeaaahhhhh HABILITATION
In Dezember 2017 Notburga Gierlinger got her Venia Docendi for „Physical and chemical biology“ and is now allowed to supervise master and PhD students. The habilitation New insights into plant cell walls by vibrational microspectroscopy is published as a review in the journal Applied Spectroscopy reviews.
1st plant spectroscopy conference in UMEA (Sweden)
We participated from 29th to 30th September 2017 the 1st plant spectroscopy conference in Umea (Sweden) and Bati and Peter had the chance to present their work to a very interested audience. We enjoyed many nice talks and the fresh air and a wonderful conference dinner in the charming setting of Skeppsvik Herrgard.
Junge Uni Waldviertel
Open positions (Phd, Post-doc) in the ERC-project

The candidates should have a strong background in plant biology, chemistry and/or physics and be highly motivated to work interdisciplinary in the bionami-team weiterlesen…
DOC [Doctoral Fellowship Programme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences]
MARTIN FELHOFER got awarded with the DOC-fellowship for his project „Shed new light on heartwood formation – CONGRATULATION! We are very happy that he will stay in our group and continue the research on this very intersting topic.
Two group members awarded – CONGRATULATION
The master thesis „RAMAN imaging to reveal in-situ molecular changes of wood during heartwood formation and drying“ of MARTIN FELHOFER was awarded with the „Klaus Fischer – Innovationspreis für Technik und Umwelt„. And in the same ceremony the great performance of our bachelor student CAROLINA THERESA PETER was awarded with the „Preis der Allgemeinen Hochschulstipendienstiftung weiterlesen…
