One PhD student and one postdoctoral researcher position are currently available to reveal the design secrets of seed coats on the micro-and nanoscale within the ERC-project „Scattering and tapping on soft-hard-open nuts„. The candidates should have a strong background in plant biology, chemistry and/or physics and be highly motivated to work interdisciplinary in the bionami-team weiterlesen…
MARTIN FELHOFER got awarded with the DOC-fellowship for his project „Shed new light on heartwood formation – CONGRATULATION! We are very happy that he will stay in our group and continue the research on this very intersting topic.
The master thesis „RAMAN imaging to reveal in-situ molecular changes of wood during heartwood formation and drying“ of MARTIN FELHOFER was awarded with the „Klaus Fischer – Innovationspreis für Technik und Umwelt„. And in the same ceremony the great performance of our bachelor student CAROLINA THERESA PETER was awarded with the „Preis der Allgemeinen Hochschulstipendienstiftung weiterlesen…
The 1st International Plant Spectroscopy Conference takes place on August 29-30 this year in the remote but charming location of Umeå, Sweden. Registration is open via the conference homepage http://conference.plantspec.org The conference is the first of a biannual international conference series that the International Society for Plant Spectroscopy (ISPS, http://plantspec.org) intends to organise, with the weiterlesen…
Our hiking tour led us to the Agnesbründl. Our guest, Carmen Teixeira joined us too 🙂
Already the third time pupils in the age between 11-14 years visited us at BOKU on 24th of February to learn more about „Tricks of plants for technical applications“. Beside gaining knowledge on micro-and nanostructures of plants they had fun in e.g. experiencing the self- cleaning capabilities of leaves or how strong wood is.
The whole team presented results at the 21. Meeting of the Austrian Society of Plant Biology ATSPB. 26.05. – 28.05.2016 in Berchtesgaden (Haus der Berge) and we are very happy that Martin Felhofer won the poster award.
Batirtze Prats Mateu will attend the conference on „Chemometrics in analytical chemistry“ in Barcelona (6-10th of June) and present her results on using multivariate data analysis (non negative matrix factorization and vertex component analysis for analysis of plant cell wall Raman images.
The potential of Raman imaging combined with multivariate analysis as well as Atomic force microscopy to investigate in-situ plant cell walls will be presented at the X!V CELL WALL MEETING in Chania (Crete) in Chania (Greece) from 12th to 17th of Jun28e
New paper on „Waterproofing in Arabidopsis: Following Phenolics and Lipids In situ by Confocal Raman Microscopy“ in a special issue on Non polysacharide plant polymeric materials in „Frontiers in Chemistry“. Results will be presented at Plant Biology Europe EPSO/FESPB 2016 Congress 26.-30.06.2016 in Prag
